What is data linkage?

Data linkage, in simple terms, is a method of bringing together information, from different sources, but relating to the same individual or event. PHRN data linkage units link existing information from different health, health related and other data collections to provide data to researchers approved research. This is done using methods which minimise the risks to individual privacy. See “What is data Linkage?” infographic.

Let’s navigate data linkage –

a researcher’s journey

Often the data that we need to answer a research question doesn’t all sit within the one dataset. Linked data is a valuable resource in research that allows us to bring together data, about individuals, from multiple datasets to answer important research questions. However, the researcher journey to accessing linked data is sometimes a complex process.

This video and infographic aim to help you better understand the data linkage journey and how to navigate access to our data linkage services. These tools will expand your understanding of the application, ethics and linkage process.
